    Adding Formula Row and/or column

Is it possible to add in a formula row into a pivot table.  I am using a pivot table to create an income statement and need to add in a gross profit formula as a row in the pivot table, based upon subtotals inthe pivot table.  I would also like to add a column in the middle of the pivot table that can be edited or can be a formula based on data in the pivot table.  I am on Excel version 2010 and have also downloaded PowerPivot.  If this is not possible, what is the best way to pull data from the pivot table and format it.  In the past I have created a new sheet and used lookup formulas to the pivot table to pull into a new sheet with the desired format.  I am just wondering if there is a more efficient way to do the formating right in the pivot table.

    Thanks
