    Office 2010 Upgrade program

I purchased and installed Office 2007 Student and Home this April (April's between March 5 and September 30, so I think I'm eligible for the free update). At the time of purchase, I was told by Microsoft that I would be able to get a free upgrade to Office 2010 when it comes out. Well, it's come out. Does anyone know what to do or where to go on the internet in order to get the free update? Also, does anyone know technically when, pray tell, Microsoft Office 2010 will be "broadly available"????

I'm asking this blog because I've heard horror stories about users who go onto Microsoft blogs to ask polite questions (the VB6 to .NET controversy comes to mind), only to get summarily kicked off of the blog, so I don't want to go there. Any help or clarification that anyone can provide would really be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Bruce

    Re: Office 2010 Upgrade program

    Jim,

Yes, I have, and I have successfully upgraded to Office Home and Student 2010 into a separate location on my computer, so I have the old 2007 AND the new 2010. After having reviewed Bill Jelen's podcasts today, I was saddened to discover that I am unable to use PowerPivot, as that requires Office Professional 2010 60 day trial. I only discovered this after going onto powerpivot.com -- what a disappointment!! I'm sorry, but I just don't have the extra $500 it would take to upgrade. My job does not require me to query massave databases significantly exceeding 1 million records. I wonder if PowerPivot requires DLLs that are associated with Microsoft Access 2010? If I have something that heavy duty, I will use Access 2003, as that is what has been deployed at my work location.

    Thank you for your help.
